Our Commitment to Accessibility
DEEPdormir.pro is committed to providing a digital experience that is accessible to all users, including people with visual, auditory, motor, cognitive, and speech disabilities. We believe that everyone deserves equal access to healthcare resources — including the ability to find, research, and connect with sleep medicine providers.
This commitment is not a one-time effort. We integrate accessibility thinking into every phase of our design and development process, from initial wireframes through to production code and ongoing quality assurance.
Perceivable
All information and interface components are presented in ways users can perceive — including text alternatives for non-text content.
Operable
All interface components and navigation are operable via keyboard, mouse, touch, and assistive devices without requiring specific timing.
Understandable
Information and operation of the interface is clear and consistent. Error messages are descriptive and helpful.
Robust
Content is built to be compatible with current and future assistive technologies, using semantic HTML and ARIA correctly.
Conformance Status
We are targeting conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. WCAG defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.
| Level | Definition | Our Status |
|---|---|---|
| Level A | The minimum level of accessibility conformance — barriers that would make it impossible for some users to access content. | Meets Level A |
| Level AA | The broadly accepted standard for web accessibility — removes significant barriers for users with disabilities. | Partially Meets AA |
| Level AAA | The highest level of WCAG conformance — not required as a general target but we aim for AAA where feasible. | In Progress |
Measures We Take
DEEPdormir.pro takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of our platform:
- Accessibility in Design: Accessibility requirements are included in our design specifications and reviewed before implementation begins.
- Developer Training: Our development team receives ongoing training in accessible web development including semantic HTML, ARIA patterns, and keyboard interaction design.
- Automated Testing: We run automated accessibility scans using tools including axe-core and Lighthouse on every release.
- Manual Testing: We conduct manual accessibility audits using keyboard-only navigation and screen reader testing (NVDA, VoiceOver, JAWS) at minimum quarterly.
- User Testing: We engage users with disabilities in usability testing to surface real-world barriers that automated tools miss.
- Issue Tracking: Accessibility issues are logged in our development backlog and triaged by severity. Critical issues are prioritized for immediate remediation.
- Vendor Assessment: Third-party components and plugins integrated into our platform are evaluated for accessibility before adoption.
- Continuous Improvement: This Accessibility Statement is reviewed and updated with each significant release or at minimum annually.
Technical Specifications
DEEPdormir.pro relies on the following technologies for conformance with WCAG 2.2:
- HTML5: Semantic HTML is used throughout including proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, lists, and tables with appropriate markup.
- CSS3: Styles are applied in a way that does not rely on color alone to convey information. Focus indicators are visible. Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- WAI-ARIA: ARIA roles, properties, and states are used to supplement HTML semantics where native elements are insufficient — particularly for dynamic content, custom widgets, and complex UI patterns.
- JavaScript: JavaScript enhancements are applied progressively. Core functionality remains accessible when scripts are unavailable or disabled.
Supported Browsers
Our platform is designed and tested for accessibility with the following browsers:

- Mozilla Firefox (latest two major versions)
- Apple Safari (latest two major versions)

Accessibility Features
The following accessibility features are implemented throughout DEEPdormir.pro:
Skip Navigation
A "Skip to main content" link appears at the top of every page for keyboard users to bypass repeated navigation.
Alt Text
All meaningful images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images use empty alt attributes and aria-hidden="true".
Heading Structure
Pages use a logical heading hierarchy (H1 → H2 → H3) to enable screen reader users to navigate by heading.
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements — links, buttons, forms, modals, dropdowns — are fully operable by keyboard only.
ARIA Landmarks
Semantic landmark regions (header, nav, main, aside, footer) are used throughout so screen reader users can jump between sections.
Visible Focus
A 3px purple focus ring is visible on all interactive elements when navigating with a keyboard. Focus never disappears or becomes invisible.
Color Contrast
All text meets WCAG AA contrast requirements (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text). We do not use color alone to convey information.
Form Labels
All form inputs have visible, programmatically associated labels. Error messages are specific, helpful, and announced to screen readers.
Reduced Motion
All animations and transitions are disabled or significantly reduced when the user has prefers-reduced-motion enabled in their OS settings.
Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, we are aware of the following accessibility limitations on DEEPdormir.pro. We are actively working to address each issue:
-
Provider Map Embed (Section 8 — Location): The Google Maps iframe embedded on provider profile pages may not be fully accessible to screen reader users. As a workaround, the full address and directions link are provided as text alternatives adjacent to the map.
Target resolution: Q2 2025 — evaluating accessible map alternatives. -
Star Rating Display: The visual star rating display on provider cards uses CSS pseudo-elements which may not announce correctly in all screen reader + browser combinations. A text alternative (e.g., "4.8 out of 5 stars, 156 reviews") is included in the accessible label.
Target resolution: Q1 2025 — refactoring to use SVG with aria-label. -
PDF Documents: Some downloadable PDF resources may not be fully accessible. We are working to create accessible HTML versions of all PDFs.
Target resolution: Ongoing. Contact us for an accessible alternative. -
Third-Party Booking Widgets: Some provider booking links redirect to third-party scheduling tools whose accessibility we cannot fully control. We encourage providers to use accessible booking platforms.
Target resolution: Ongoing. We are adding accessibility criteria to our provider network requirements. -
Video Content: Where video introductions are present on provider profiles, captions may not be available for all videos. We are working with providers to ensure captioned video is provided.
Target resolution: Q2 2025 — adding captioning requirements to provider content guidelines.
